About Us
My name is Debbie Withers. I am a senior counsellor for BCS and a registered, accredited member of the BACP. I offer a professional and non-judgemental counselling space for clients to explore issues that may be difficult for them to address alone; such as low mood, anxiety, relationships and self esteem. I have a Masters in Counselling Psychology from the University of Wolverhampton and practice as an Integrative Therapist.
My extensive counselling training has been based on integrating the two core counselling models of person-centred therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I have also trained in EMDR (trauma therapy) practice.
In the course of my counselling career, I have worked across a wide age range (4 – 87 years) gaining a wide range of experience including several years experience in the NHS; careers, student and staff counselling and eating disorders; both face-to-face and via the telephone. My area of specialism is counselling those with eating disorders, body image issues and weight related distress.
My name is Karen Roberts and I am a counsellor with BCS. If you are worried, stressed or sad and need somebody to listen to you, I provide a safe, non-judgemental, confidential environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings and work through difficulties. My main approach is Psychodynamic but I have also studied a number of different therapeutic models and techniques that I may use to enhance the counselling sessions depending on your needs.
My aim during counselling is to work with clients to bring about a greater understanding of self and to relieve distress. Some of the issues that I have had experience in working with individuals are: loss and bereavement, relationships, trauma, abuse, anxiety, low mood, fear and anger.
I studied Counselling for 3 years at Derby University, Buxton where I gained the following qualifications:
Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling
Certificate in Counselling Level 2
Certificate in Counselling Concepts
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and work alongside the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling to ensure that you are provided with a professional and ethical service.
