Pure Space Children’s Counselling
Pure Space Children’s Counselling was founded by Debbie Withers (MBACP Accred.) in 2013 and today provides counselling to children within schools and in private practice.
Having completed additional training and qualification to work with children and young people, beyond her MSc, Debbie Withers has provided counselling in 6 schools within Buxton and High Peak, Derbyshire. The children and young people (CYP) receiving counselling within this service have ranged in age from 4 through to 18 years (Reception to Year 13). Helen Madden (MBACP) who is based in Chapel-en-le-frith, also works as a counsellor for the Pure Space service.
Debbie also sees CYP clients privately within her own practice. Parents are often involved in the referral process and, by agreement, may also take part in the counselling process at some stage. Children and young clients are offered a space to talk freely and confidentially or to use creative ways to express and process their feelings and to grow from their unique therapeutic experiences.
Debbie’s approach includes play therapy, sand-tray therapy with miniatures, creative therapy, CBT and Solution Focused Therapy. She is an accredited member of the BACP and a member of the CYP division. She also provides both group and individual supervision to therapists working with CYP clients. Particular attention is paid to safe-guarding with this age-group.
